Why Waste is a company which my husband, Leo and I started in 2014. Leo wears many hats and identifies with the job title 'positive change contributor'. He plays an active part in nurturing an environmentally regenerative culture in New Zealand. Recognised as a leader in waste minimisation, Why Waste is a platform for creating positive environmental and social change.
This is achieved through a food waste collection service for cafe’s and restaurants in the Tauranga region which then gets turned into compost. Why Waste also sells and hires worm farms for commercial and residential use. Leo educates children through fortnightly visits to local schools where the kids learn about composting, worm farming and gardening. Leo regularly inspires and empowers New Zealander’s to take action to creating a more regenerative world by presenting at festivals, events and workshops all over New Zealand.
